| Long tradition of good service
Cleavers Tyres and Browns Tyres have a long tradition of providing service and quality to their market areas of Port Macquarie, Taree, Wingham, Gunnedah, Tamworth and Narrabri respectively.
Cleavers Tyres and Browns Tyres were founded by the fathers of Ashley and Doug. Gordon Cleaver started in the tyre industry in Taree in 1952 and Steve Brown started one year later in 1953 establishing Browns Tyres in Gunnedah in 1966. Both Cleavers and Browns are family based companies who over the decades have promoted a mix of quality product, good service competitive pricing all using leading edge technology. Doug's father past on in 1986 but his mother Jean still visits the Gunnedah store. Ashley's father who is 78 still attends the Taree store during the week. Browns and Cleavers stores are all closely located within short driving distances, so Doug and Ashley can move between them easily to maintain the country values and services upon which both companies were founded. Cleavers Tyres and Browns Tyres association with Bridgestone commenced in the mid 1970s with Marubeni Bridgestone and more formally in the 1980s with Bridgestone Australia and has successfully continued today. Cleavers, Browns and Bridgestone the winning combination! |

| Wheel safety is a first priority
Regular wheel alignments will save you money and make your car safer, according to Cleavers Tyres in Port Macquarie.
Ashley Cleaver says that many motorists over look, to their cost, the need for wheel aligning. "Aligning wheels will help you prolong tyre life and to insure your car's road handling is up to scratch", he said. Tyres are a major purchase, so it pays to do everything you can to maximise their life. "Together with checks on air pressures, regular wheel alignments are the best way to ensure tyres go the distance." Tyre manufacturer Bridgestone says the symptoms of non-aligned wheels show up as uneven wear on either side of the tyre, or the car pulling to either the left or right when travelling. The biggest causes of wheels going out of alignment are impacts with kerbs, pot-holes and objects on the road. Cleavers Tyres are dedicated wheel alignment specialists who carry out thousands of wheel alignments each year using computerised wheel aligners on vehicles ranging from mini minors to the occasional Rolls Royce. |

| Increase fuel economy
Motorists can increase fuel economy and tyre durability by insuring tyre air pressures are in accordance with vehicle specification, according to Cleavers Tyres and leading tyre maker Bridgestone Australia LTD.
They say that rolling resistance - the force which acts against a wheel revolving - can be substantially reduced if tyre air pressures are maintained at recommended levels rather then at lower levels. Tyre-use surveys have found that many Australian motorists continue to run tyres al lower then recommended levels, leading to increases in rolling resistance. This requires a vehicle engine to deliver more power to run the tyre at the required speed. |
